Other stuff in my RSS feed I've liked today III

Liam Sharp's Hammerstein has something of the Druillet about it (from his DeviantArt page); Adam Hughes' Xmas card (from his DeviantArt page); Darwyn Cooke does a cover for someone-or-other in the new Image solicitations.

It's the USA/The Doctor meet-cute.

I mean it, man: my Best Of The Year 2010

Hey, hey, hey: it's my Best Of The Year in comics, movies, TV and books, over at the always-recommended FPI blog.

I wrote the bit about what I'm looking forward most to in 2011 bit before Kenny published his publishing schedule for next year, or I would have mentioned the English translation of HECTOR UMBRA, too.  I realised recently that my first post to mention Uli Oestrle was also my first post to mention Warwick Johnson Cadwell, back in the good old days of 2006.  What an auspicious entry that has turned out to be.  Maybe Joe had a point when he called me "guru".

We know that music is just music.

Hey, for all the good people who can access Spotify, here's a playlist I knocked together, we'll call it my Best Of 2010.  Everyone in a non-Spotify territory - sorry.  There's always The Klams.

And here's to Don Van Vliet, crazy-assed mother of the highest order.  Some people get broken in to the music of Captain Beefheart nice and easily. Not us. Our first Beefheart experience was TROUT MASK REPLICA. Here's Don and Frank, one of rock's great love-hate relationships.

Kevin Nowlan does more Hellboy.

Lovely. Via his blog.

Update: and via CBR, Mignola's variant cover for this.

More Etrigan...

...this time from the brush of Fábio Moon.  I'd buy more of that.

Eric Powell's Judge Dredd.

The third Mega-City Masters brings a third U.S. artist to the table to have a go at drawing Joe, this time, Eric The Goon" Powell.

Simon Fraser's Ringo Starr

From Beatles day over at Drawbridge. "Every time I see your face, It reminds me of the places we used to go, but all I've got is a photograph, and I realise you're not coming back anymore".

Elka & Black Mark, slight return.

This year, I got a birthday present from WJC. I loved it.

Help a dude out at Christmas.

Magical Mystery Lego.

Sorry, dunno who this is by, or what it is called, but I liked it. Anyone?

*UPDATE* It's from the Flickr account of this fella.

Edmund Bagwell's Etrigan.

Oh, that's so damned good. The Demon is a hard character to do well, because it's pure Kirby. Bag-E gets it right by going at it as an exercise in pure Kirby.  That's the best looking Etrigan I've seen since Mignola's.

In the same blog entry, he also gives us Groot's old mucker, Nova. As anyone who remembers EVENT HORIZON fondly knows, Edmund does great space opera.

Craig Ferguson - The lost "Dr. Who" cold open

Apparently the BBC wouldn't clear this for use, but it's great.  The former Bing Hitler really cuts to the quick about what is great about the series and the character.

Cheers to Richard A Bensam, Esq for that link.

Things I've liked tonight while hacking through the last 48 hours of my RSS feed.

1. Patrick McQuade's very civilised arctic monkey.

2. The much less civilised Nigel Auchterlounie's Judge Smudge

3. Tim Hamilton's sasquatch.

4. Brendan McCarthy's proposal for a sequel to YELLOW SUBMARINE.  If you're going to pitch, pitch big.

5. Steven Moffat's innate understanding of librarians.

First xmas card of the season has arrived...

...and this year's prize for early bird goes to Tiernen Trevallion, with this traditional seasonal scene.
