Never did understand that song... "I wish I was in Carrickfergus". The town is a freezing dump full of kerr-azy people, and I should know, I lived there for three years. So congratulations must go to Jacko, who's actually managed to make the place look pretty damned good. Wee-ird!

Ha that reminded me so much of an incident years ago...
I was at a party and brought a pal. I also invited this musician fella and at one stage he was in a room entertaining us all with his beautiful crooning of Irish ballads.
He then started singing 'I wish I wassssss' and that was as far as he went before my pal started snorting laughing.
I was mortified.
She apologised and he carried on somewhat embarassed.
'I wish I wasssss....'
Snort, snort again from my friend.
Then she redeemed herself by saying 'oh I am sooo sorry, because it is a beautiful song and you are singing it so beautifully, but Carrickfergus is a shithole, have you ever been there?'
No one could argue. Though the green in front of the sea and the castle are gorgeous.
Exactamundo.
I think my Belfast friends took us there on our way to the Giant's Causeway. They basically kept saying we should have gone somewhere better..but for 2 American girls it was pretty amazing to see this castle just across a road.
I was quite hungover from whiskey drinkin the night before and remember a very curvy drive with a mad Irishman behind the wheel.
