The guy plainly walks around most of the time higher than all of the Grateful Dead put together, so I really find it hard to believe that he gives as much of a shit as everyone thinks... but people KEEP asking him these questions, and he knows what his reputation is and plays up to it for a laugh.

And it does sound, from his telling at least, like they completely failed to hold up their end of the arrangement. Fair enough, they're busy, but so am I... which is why I didn't agree to draw an ongoing series for a mate a couple of weeks a go (even though I approached HIM about working together). You don't agree to shit you can't do, especially if it means someone else is going to be doing a load of work for nothing.

How long before this turns into us posting "your mum!" at each other? I give it two more coments.David Wynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06983869093643610450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210377.post-26579684101654401152010-06-13T20:00:45.289+01:002010-06-13T20:00:45.289+01:00I think everyone involved has enough on their plat...I think everyone involved has enough on their plate to walk away from this and not feel hard done by. Yet Moore regularly gives interviews and statements which indicate he's in a permanent state of feeling hard done by.Markhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17791352096505994671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210377.post-89218314118939302422010-06-13T19:29:58.362+01:002010-06-13T19:29:58.362+01:00hard to work with? Sure. Probably even more so now...hard to work with? Sure. Probably even more so now that he really doesn't need to work with anyone if he doesn't want to. But surely at this stage there isn't anybody left who might want to work with him who doesn't already know that? I just don't understand why the hell anyone would enter into an agreement to work with him and then NOT bend over backwards to keep him happy- you might as well not bother to approach him in the first place then, surely? It's like commissioning work from an artist you can't afford to pay.David Wynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06983869093643610450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210377.post-30611592817782690252010-06-13T19:23:45.380+01:002010-06-13T19:23:45.380+01:00I've loved Moore's work for a long time, a...I've loved Moore's work for a long time, and I'll allow the word "genius" because he did initiate something of a quantum leap in his field, but the guy does come over more and more as bloomin' hard to work with.Markhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17791352096505994671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210377.post-5641115628476263652010-06-13T18:24:10.830+01:002010-06-13T18:24:10.830+01:00On the other hand, it does sound very much like th...On the other hand, it does sound very much like they *really* wanted to work with Alan Moore, but entirely on their own terms and without doing very much actual working with Alan Moore. Which begs the question of what the hell did they expect? Hewlett at least should know enough about comics to know that if you work with Alan Moore, he's in charge or it's not happening.

Which, frankly, is as it should be. I've nothing against Albarn's attempt to reinvent himself as a middle of the road hip-hop producer- it's easy enough on the ears- and I'm a massive Hewlett fan; but let's be honest, there's only one real genius in this equation.David Wynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06983869093643610450noreply@blogger.com
