"Now Han Solo's a coffee table"

Just saw this over at io9. Someone's put a lot of effort into it.

Doc Bizarre M.D.

God only knows what this is for, but I do love tiny, Emmy-award winning, cartoonist Andy Suriano:

Links of disrepute.

1. Brendan McCarthy shares the love with Joe Gordon over at the FPI blog.

2. You in need of a laugh? Try the greatest Tumblr site ever.  I was literally crying by the time I reached the end.

3. The new TARDIS interior is bloomin' glorious.

Scott Pilgrim videogame looks just like you'd want it to.

Der link.

Now with added this:

Buying bad comics for good art. A recurring problem.

I recently got a fit of the giggles when someone from my usual comic shop pointed out that I had pre-ordered Marvel's PRELUDE TO DEADPOOL CORPS #3&#5 - had I forgotten to order issues 1,2&4? Jesus, I've been buying comics from them for years now - do they still have no clue what makes me tick?

Anyway: issue 3 was drawn by PHIL BOND! Preview pages here. And issue 5 is drawn by KYLE BAKER! Preview pages here.

You're a tiger! Rawwrrr!

This space is reserved for a plug for David Wynne's Particle Fiction, just as soon as he pays up.

Been caught soliciting: Marvel, June 2010.

Great month for covers at Marvel.
Kaare Andrews goes with mutant babies puking over Emma Frost's giant knockers.Naturally enough.

Paul Pope does Phil Dick.

Two (!) Spidey covers from Brendan McCarthy.

Another crazy kinetic job from Eric Canete.

Geof Darrow! Hell yeah!

Can't get enough of Dave Johnson's Punisher covers.

Been caught soliciting: DC, June 2010.

Full mountain o' shite here.

Dunno what's going on here, but I do like the idea of Doug Mahnke drawing Lobo.

Sienkiewicz is as Sienkiewicz does.  I'll probably buy this. Not straight away. Whenever it's going dirt cheap as a back issue.

Allred draws tasty, tasty brains.

Stuff I nearly went with: Darwyn Cooke drawing more Moebius-style Jonah Hex; DC reprinting that Superman/Mohammad Ali treasury as a full-sized repro-edition; and is Stephane Roux a dame or a dude? 'Cus whichever it is, (s)he's drawn Zatanna with the most matronly bosom I've seen on any comic book cover...

All you young punks.

Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore keeps unearthing lovely stuff at his blog, Flowers & Cream. Like this early (1969) piece on The Stooges by Jim Morrison's missus.  "Destructo-Rock" should have caught on, dammit!

10 2000AD Characters Who Could Rule Cinema, & assorted shizzle.

Fucking hell, been away from the computer for a few days, and it takes me three hours to hack my way through the good stuff that's accumulated on the aul' RSS feed.  Anyway, 2000AD fans, check this out - The Galaxy's Greatest Comic gets the Steal This Pitch treatment at io9. Sure, we could have told yeh all that anyway.

And Jason at Between Clark And Hilldale points out a fine example of Bad Librarianship from the stylus of 2000AD ledge Brian O'Bolland.

And I was never going to not post this. Uh... that should be, I was always going to post this. That's definitely what I meant to write.

New DOCTOR WHO trailers breaking out all over the place.

U.K.

The MICHAEL FASSBENDER FOR DAN DARE campaign starts today.

Simon from the Pimpernel's Blog may not think the movers and shakers of Hollywood read his blog, but I'm deluded enough to think there's a chance they may see this*: Click here to see his inspired casting call for the proposed DAN DARE movie.  And once you've seen it, start campaigning: Michael Fassbender for Dan Dare! Make your voice heard!

*From the same blogger who brought you the successful campaigns "Brian Blessed for Odin" and "Nick Frost for Volstagg".

Product placement finds a new home.

Not content with stinking up movies and TV, Lady Gaga's otherwise brilliant new video has a ton of it going on.  Can't blame her - I'm pretty fond of Miracle Whip myself, when it's time for a low-rent Mayonnaise substitute.

Brigonos Mac Giolla Chomhgaill

Hey, there's been a comicker blogging from just up the road for a year, and I (1) hadn't cottoned on, and (2) can't pronounce his name.

I'm blogging that.

Stuff I saw today and thought worthy of your attention.

1Jim Mahfood does Miles.

2Neil Gazin loses his shit over SECRET ASIAN MAN.  Note to self: and that's how you make a comics vodcast.

Nick Gazin's Comic Book Witch Hunt #8: Secret Asian Man from Nick Gazin on Vimeo.

3.   Latest IRON MAN 2 trailer. Oh, ham-bone.

It was a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater.

Saw this in an opinion piece at io9.  Is this how Grant Morrison's Marvel Boy dresses these days? Looks fun to draw, but not even Chris Bachalo's art entices me to buy superhero comics these days.

Jason Garrattley's Team Up: Unleashed

Ah, it's hard to beat Jason Garrattley's dedication to the notion of Kirby As A Genre. For starters, there's the great blog he curates on the subject, Kirby Vision, and there's all those groovy montages he knocks up (best seen at his Flickr page).  Here's his latest, which he did for yer man Tim Miner at the Marvel Smartass blog. Bloomin' glorious.

Can't beat a Quicky. Or, Space lady: blow your horn.

Everybody checking out Quicky's blog? Bon. Bon bon bons (as Brian Butterfield might say).
