Hell came to Birmingham, and nobody noticed.

A closer look at Brian Braddock's new costume. Still haven't warmed to it: it's just a little bit too much like Union Jack's. And it's a little bit pervy-lookin', what with a big aul' arrow pointed directly at his John Thomas an' shit.

It's crazy. Marvel have NO IDEA what they've got with Captain Britain: a terrific concept, steeped in Kirby science and Ditko-ish magic, and most importantly a costume that's as beautifully designed and as iconic as Captain America's (I actually think I slightly prefer it to CA's). Maybe I'm overreacting (alright, I *am*), and this book has been lots of fun so far, but... why meddle with perfection?

Bah.

I'm with Dan, for gods sake leave the Cap in EITHER the all red lionhead or the Alan Davis/Moore version! Stop fiddling with it!

(Also - arrow pointing to crotch? dodgy...)

Yeah, why change something that's working. But I guess everything gets messed with sooner or later in the comic world. I'm guessing this new costume is easier to draw, though, right? Who wants to draw fiddly little lions, when you can draw lines. And when they make the movie, the star is going to take the mask off anyway ....

Well, if the Avengers movies skew close to Millar's ULTIMATES, there's a good chance the Braddocks could show up...

I really like the seventies red lion job, but it's the awesome eighties Alan Davis number all the way for me. It's timeless and cool, with a hint of army formality in the boots, and a touch of regality in the helmet (!). And the flag is really nicely incorporated into the design. This thing... I hate to say it looks gay (cos that's what boring nerds say about everything), but it really DOES look gay.

The arrow pointing towards his genitalia is certainly, uh, a little camp. I suppose the other two prongs go round the back and point to his butt-cheeks, too.

Hey Mark; Capt. Britain is single handedly my favorite costume. Period. Or at least it was. It's heartbreak nearly every six months or so, when Marvel tries another, yet suckier costume. Not sure why they feel the need to constantly make more "realistic".

I read somewhere that they originally (as in his 2nd costume) needed to adjust to colorist's demands. BUt now in the digital age...?!

He's now got combat boots, for God's sake!
