The news just keeps on coming. Doctor Manhattan, Mars, annoying Billy Corgan soundtrack, this has got the lot.
I watched the trailer here.I have to say I've been looking forward to this film about as much as Alan Moore has -- I generally agree with his view of the way American corporations have treated him, and his view of the pointlessness of making this into a film at all -- but this glorious testament to the trailer editor's art comes close to making me do a 180 degree turn. But I remind myself that the trailer for The Golden Compass looked just as perfect and promised hardcore fans of the book an adaptation where they got everything exactly right...and then the film itself left those same fans cold. So I won't make that mistake twice. I'll go see it, but with the lowest expectations I can manage.
Interestingly, that's the music from 'Batman and Robin'. I wonder who thought that one up.
Ooh, was it? That, together with Ozy's costume having nipples on it, might be some sort of commentary on superhero movies, just as Moore's work offered commentary on superhero comics. I'd like to think this movie will be that smart, but I doubt it.
It's the B-side/remix to SP's The End is the Beginning is the End from Batman and Robin, if I remember rightly. It works much better associated with this silliness, I must say.Am I a fool for loving this trailer? Makes me feel like a grumpy 19 year old again. Which is nice, in small doses.
It all looks promising but is it just well considered bait that would leave us eventually gutted?(excuse the analogy i'm just off fishing)
The only Smashing Pumpkins song that doesn't make my teeth grate is 1979.
