Adopt a blogger.

I want to be like Eddie Campbell and not care who inked Jack Kirby, but dammit, I do.

Which is why I love Fake Stan Lee like a father.

Who inked the Mr. Miracle stuff, Vince Colletta? Yeah I like him. Honestly I don't know the others. Uh, I guess I'm with Eddie Campbell on this one.

I've slagged off Colletta in the past (hey! even got hate mail 'cus of it!), but his work on the first year of the Fourth World titles wasn't too bad compared to the THOR eff-ups. Maybe he had a bit more time, maybe he knew Kirby was on to him (he'd been kicked off the last year or so of THOR thanks to Steve Ditko threatening Stan Lee he'd warn Kirby about the erasing of backgrounds, I heard: and Bill Everett's inks over Kirby were fantastic), but his work in NEW GODS and MR MIRACLE, etc, has a nice, chunky, almost-Chic Stone quality to some of it.

But when Royer took over, things really flew to another level.

Oh maybe it was Royer. Anyway, that's the extent of my Kirby-inker knowledge. Because that Fourth World stuff rocks.

Y'know, there are certain stock-in-trade beliefs all comic bloggers must have, that we can fall back on for content when times are rough. SCOTT PILGRIM rocks; CASANOVA is the dog's bollocks; AIRWOLF, drop kicks to the face and punching bears are funny; and Vinnie Colletta is akin to a war criminal in our eyes. It's the comic blogger law.

Do keep up, 007.

Holy moley...I hadn't seen that blog before, but whoever's responsible a) is a heck of a writer, and b) really knows his stuff. I'm awestruck.

Of course this means war.

He is, isn't he? There's nothing I like better than a well-executed Stan Lee pastiche (see also: Kevin Church's WHAT IF/WATCHMEN pages).

Just because you are English doesn't mean you can't have good taste. How can somebody not like Colletta's inks on Thor?
