Planet Of The Apes On Motorbikes.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. "Gee, Mark sure is a sucker for those Ryan Sook-does-Kirby covers". I hear ya. I just don't care.

Well, the thing is, they really are that good. Sook has this knack of keeping the character true to the Kirby version without aping Kirby -- er, I mean, without resorting to cheap superficial tricks like extraneous squiggles to evoke Kirby's style. That cover doesn't look anything like a Kirby drawing, but it totally looks like Kamandi.

I want that Azzarello/Pope Kamandi series with Sook on covers. wtf Didio?

D'idiot would probably prefer something written by Geoff Johns or Judd Winnick, tied closely into the grim'n'gritty DC Universe, with art by some hack who can knock out thirty awful pages a month.

"Thirty awful pages a month"

Well, there's the new name for my blog, right there.

And this is great, of course. I wouldn't have automatically put Sook and Kirby together in my head, but how about that? They go *great* together.
