DC solicitations an' stuff.

Can I resist? SHOULD I resist? Look, they've even got Kirby squiggles engraved into them! Which is a very elegant design solution when turning one of Jack's characters from 2D to 3D, when I come to think about it. Hope it catches on - I'd like to see this sculptor take a swing at The Demon, Omac and Kamandi, too.

Bolland does his first truly great JACK OF FABLES cover. His best work for DC has always been at Vertigo.

Ryan Sook does Kirby. Nice. Fun. Tasty.
Liam Sharp
looks like he's having a good time drawing Donna Troy. Bless him. Note: his Kyle Rayner looks not unlike George W Bush. On heavy steroids.

Similarly, Dustin Nguyen looks like he's having fun channelling Mignola. Memo to Donna Troy: while in Ripper-era London, try not to dress like a tupenny hoor.

What's great about that cover is how Sook scrupulously avoids doing a cheap Kirby impression in any way and still makes us feel these are the same characters. That's beautiful.

Speaking of Kirby impressions...I'm on the fence about those figures having the squiggles carved in, but I guess you're right that it's the best possible solution. So I'll end up with two Mister Miracles and Orions on my bookcase -- I'm glad of the Barda and Oberon figures from the previous release, and I wonder if the new Orion will be missing his astro-harness -- and a Lightray action figure is something I've wanted desperately for 36 years! Though the face on this one looks more Darwyn Cooke than Kirby...and they're still making Darkseid look more like a Starlin character...

The Scott Free and Orion figures are way better than previous attempts. I'll probably spring for 'em. Maybe Darkseid. Dunno about Lightray. Y'know what? I'd rather have Forager. He's just such a cool design. Or Kalibak. Or Steppenwolf. Crap, now I've started I can't stop...

Definitely Forager.
